72 Degrees Heating & Air Conditioning is committed to reducing energy costs while contributing to the improvement and care of the environment "for a Greener, Cleaner North Carolina." We were going for a "green," "earthy" feel, hence the burlap and hemp header. The fabric-esque slider graphics were a fun way to communicate that your HVAC unit might be an energy hog.

LeadsNearby is a lead generation company based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They specialize in marketing, advertising and lead generation strategies for Home Services Contractors, and primarily HVAC contract specialists. My favorite feature of the site is its use of the ProximaNova family of fonts for the body copy and headings. The contrast between the sleek light and chunky extra-bold fonts combined with the clean, simple color pallet of the site makes LeadsNearby stand out as the professionals they are.

I did this site for a Raleigh-based Lead Generation firm called Local Loyalty. They're great guys to work with and the site was incredibly fun to build. It's definitely the biggest WordPress site I've ever built. I think my favorite feature of the site is the lightboxed forms I implemented on several pages. The guys at Local Loyalty are SEO gurus, so the flow of the site provided multiple points of entry and conversion opportunities on each page. It also has a swappable themes for winter, spring, summer, and fall.

This has been one of the most fun projects I've done. As a church plant ministering to the un-churched and de-churched of Morehead City, they wanted a bright, hip design that could deliver video and audio content, as well as provide information about service times, events and small groups, and this is what we came up with.

The site features Josef's best wedding and headshot photography, pricing information, and online proofing.

Web Development

Good design is easy to come by nowadays. Everyone is a designer and knows Photoshop like the back of their hand. That said, I feel like I still have something to offer. I am committed to design that communicates you to your audience and providing clean layouts that utilize simple, elegant color pallets. All of my programming work is done on a PHP/CSS and standards compliant XHTML framework.

SITEFLOW

I use a custom built-from-the-ground-up Content Management System I call SITEFLOW to deliver dynamic content. Siteflow provides you with an easy-to-use interface to add and edit your site's content. It comes with several standard modules that allow you to edit content on pages, add news, write blog posts, display Vimeo videos, and create event listings. If you have a specific type of content that you'd like to display, I can expand Siteflow to meet your custom content needs.

WordPress as CMS

Lately, I have also been making use of the Wordpress framework. Wordpress has a long track-record as a blogging software, but it has become increasingly valuable of late as a Content Management System. The developer community is well-developed and the software itself is well documented. What this means for you is that:

  1. Your site is stable and will always comply with current web standards. It won't be buggy or slow and will always display properly on the most current web browsers, like Safari, Firefox 4, Chrome and Internet Explorer 8.
  2. Your site is easily Search Engine Optimized, meaning with WordPress, we are able to set up things that search engines like Google and Yahoo like to see, to get you higher page ranking and closer to a first page listing under your chosen key words.
  3. Your site could easily pass into the hands of another developer with little or no learning curve. I can set up and customize your theme to your specifications, and then turn you loose to build out your content, add images and blog to your hearts content—without you having to worry about breaking anything in the process. And if at any point, you want to hand off your site to a different developer, it will be a smooth transition.
